Designed by Jean Berret,
the hull of the Oceanis 351 is very fast. Not surprising, however, when
you take into account her taut lines, maximum waterline length and her
wide beam ensuring excellent stability. The bulb keel with winglets is
designed for performance and the highly pronounced foreboot cuts an easy
passage through the waves.
The deck is freed of all manoeuvring lines : a false deck hides the
halyards and manoeuvring lines, which are brought back to a battery of
stoppers and on to two self-trailing winches either side of the
companionway. The main and genoa sheet tracks are mounted on the coachroof
thereby leaving the cockpit and sidedecks completely free. Raising the 59
sq.m. of sail is child's play, with both main and genoa mounted on furling
systems.
